The article provides a comprehensive analysis of existing types of alternative fuels, including in-depth studies of chemical and physical properties. According to the results of the study, dimethyl ether was selected. When mixing a certain amount of dimethyl alcohol with diesel fuel and using the resulting mixture to evaluate engine performance, a linear regression analysis method was used. Finding the values of linear regression coefficients was carried out using an application software package (MATLAB) to solve technical calculation problems. Studies have shown that the addition of one third of dimethyl ether to diesel fuel is the most effective additive for reducing the residual gases emitted by diesel engines. A decrease in the indicators of residual gases leads to an improvement in environmental indicators.
